Family devotions don’t have to be long, fancy, or perfectly behaved. Ten honest minutes around the table beats an hour you’ll never actually do. Keep it simple and keep it going.

A simple format
Ten minutes, four moves.
Use this same shape every time. Kids thrive on rhythm, and you’ll never have to wonder what comes next.
ReadMove 01Read a short Bible passage or story together. Keep it brief — a few verses is plenty for little ones.
TalkMove 02Ask one or two simple questions. “What happened? What does this show us about God?” Let them wonder out loud.
PrayMove 03Pray together, short and real. Let the kids pray too, in their own words. There are no wrong prayers.
BlessMove 04Speak a blessing over each child — “God loves you, and so do I.” Send them off knowing they’re treasured.

Make it stick
A few honest tips.
Pick a regular time.
Bedtime, breakfast, or dinner — attach it to something you already do every day.
Keep it short.
Ten minutes is a win. It’s far better to stop while they still want more than to drag it out.
Embrace the chaos.
Wiggles, interruptions, and silly answers are normal. You’re planting seeds, not running a classroom.
Let them talk.
Their questions are gold. “I don’t know, let’s find out” is a perfectly good answer.
Be consistent, not perfect.
You’ll miss days. Don’t quit — just start again tomorrow. Faithfulness over time is what shapes a child’s heart.
